Starting a Relationship with Christ

The most important question to ask yourself is, “Have I come to a point in my life where I have invited Christ to forgive me and to take control?” If your answer is “no” or “I’m not sure,” we want to encourage you to give Jesus control of your life. The bible gives us a path to follow in surrendering our lives to Jesus.

First, we must understand that we have willfully violated God’s plan which the Bible calls sin. To God, sin is a serious issue; consider the following scriptures:

1) We all have missed the mark! (The bible calls this sin)
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

2) Sin is a deliberate act!
Ephesians 2:1-3 “As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.”

3. The ultimate penalty for sin is death!
(Ultimate separation from God)
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Second, we must respond to Jesus Christ through repentance, confession and belief (trust).

1) Repentance
Mark 1:15 “Repent and believe the good news.”
Repentance is simply acknowledging I have sinned (violated God’s intention for my life) changing my mind and changing the direction of my life.

2. Confess and believe (trust) that Jesus is Lord!
Romans 10:9-10 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

Prayer: From a humble and honest heart, simply tell God that you are a sinner and that you need His salvation. Confess out loud that “Jesus is Lord” over your life now and that you fully believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died and rose again to wash you free from your guilt and sin. Tell Him that you are turning from your old life and are willfully making Jesus Lord. Thank God for forgiving you and giving you His Son Jesus Christ to be your Savior and Lord!

Please email our pastor to let him know of your commitment to follow Jesus.

Third, your first step of obedience is Baptism.

Why: Because Jesus Christ called us to be baptized.

What: Baptism is not a means of salvation; rather, it is a public declaration of the salvation you have received.

When: The Bible tells us that we are to be baptized after we have made a commitment to Christ.

How: We ask you to come to the church, you get in the water, you affirm your faith in Jesus and then the pastor baptizes (immerses you under the water) you.

I need to be baptized: Are you ready to take your next step in baptism?

We are excited to share in this celebration with you. Please take a moment and read through our baptism brochure and contact Pastor Greg  here.
